Spatial Data Allocation

The project is dealing with the idea of accessing your own personal data from a point of view u never experienced before. Jörg Frohnmayer suggested to students to bring their own private dataset and make an artistic or profession virtual reality (VR) storyboard in a one week workshop. The out come was a VR experience that reflected the difference one can get from a spatial representation of data and was represented in a stereoscopic setup like HTC-Vive.

Dream Diary by Delia Steinbach
In order to keep a better overview of my dreams, also to help remember them and find connections, I chose to sort them in a circle and place the user in the middle. they are sorted by recurring dream symbols (like water, animals, lucid dream etc) and each dream is represented by a sketch. each „cloud“ of sketches is a month. When one symbol is touched with a controller, the sketches fitting into that category fly towards the user, who is then free to move around and observe them more detailed.

Kidslanding by Andreas Eisenhut, Rebecca Zahor, Kim Selbach and Marnie Maile
In this project we used already existing data bases to produce 3D visualizations. We decided to use the drawings by one of our students to visualize the progress of his drawing skills from childhood until now. To create a great journey for the User we animated the paintings and tried to set them „alive“. You can fly through different worlds which are getting increasingly more abstract. We developed that project in unity for the space navigator & HTC vive.
